Dr. Monika Palmer

I received my dental and orthodontic postgraduate education in England and later in Toronto, Canada. My early career as lecturer and then clinical registrar was in the University of Newcastle upon Tyne obtaining my Fellowship in Dental surgery. I was appointed as consultant orthodontist in 1977 and was responsible for the postgraduate orthodontic programme. I have always enjoyed teaching and sharing knowledge.

In 1980 I decided to move to a private practice in Berlin, Germany with a teaching commitment. I was fortunate to enjoy close cooperation with maxillofacial surgeons of the city and could develop my main interest in orthognathic surgery, and Adult interdisciplinary treatment.

My other professional interests are clinical excellence,especially the role of Aesthetics and Harmony of the jaws and teeth, modern imaging techniques to aid diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment evaluation of orthognathic surgical cases .I have been invited as keynote speaker on these and other subjects to many international meetings. I have also been invited to give the Congress Courses on “The surgical option” for many international orthodontic societies.

I am an active member of the Angle Society of Europe and served as a member of the Scientifi c Committee ,chairperson of the Scientifi c committee and as president of the society 2006- 2008; I am a member of the European Association of Orthodontists. an international member of the American Association of Orthodontists. I am also an artist and interested in the theories of aesthetics,colour, balance, and harmony and their role in Art and in orthodontics.
