Timing of implant placement - revisitedDr. Piotr Fudalej, DDS, MSD, PhD.
Keynote Lecture - Saturday, September 20, 2014Placement of a single-tooth implant should be performed when a patient’s facial growth has ceased. If implantation is done before that moment it could lead to infra-occlusion of the implant crown and produce an esthetic and periodontal problem. Observations of adolescents imply that facial growth in subjects with short, average, and long facial type is different, i.e. the growth in subjects with long face lasts longer than in subjects with short face. This presentation will discuss the timing of cessation of craniofacial growth in patients with average as well as short and long facial types and will provide recommendations regarding when to place an implant in anterior region.
